Dirty Dozen Questions
Tams – If you could spend the day with one of your characters, which one would it be, and why?
MK: I can’t spend the night? Heh heh heh. Oh, all right. Hmm… I think it would have to Aubrey King, the alt rock star from the Rockin’ it books. Especially if we could hang out in Milan, go to the music festival and get some Cornetti alla cream with espresso, Yum.
Jeff - What are you working on currently and what's its inspiration?
MK: Book Five in the Kiss of Leather series, Gaining Trust. The inspiration for the actual series was the name of the club! I thought, damn, someone should open a premiere BDSM club called Kiss of Leather, and custom build it from the ground up so that nothing else out there could compare to it. Then the next thought was, who the hell would do that and why?
Wade - If the lead character in your current novel were to read your other books, which one would be his/her favorite and why?
MK: Good one, Wade, I like it. My most recent novel is Slave For Two, the first in the Soul Match series, and even though Morgan is the cousin to the lead character, I think anyone who’s read it by now has figured out he’ll be a lead character in no time! *wink* But his love of reading is a big part of who he is. He loves fantasy, so he’d probably rather read one of Jake Wallace or Jordan Hawk’s books, but since he’s in alien captivity, he’s pretty desperate. I’m guessing he’ll take what’s available. In which case, I think he’d go for my WIP that I’m doing for the Order of the Black Knights series. If Morgan’s really lucky, I might actually finish it one day.
Jake - If all of your MCs were thrown into a strange and dangerous world where survival relies on ingenuity, creativity, common sense who would come out on top?
MK: You lost me at common sense. Let’s see…I’m betting it would either be Gavin or Stone, two of the Masters from Kiss of Leather. But, I think I’m gonna have to give this one to Stone. With his keen investigator’s eye, sharp intuition and unflappable demeanor, he’d probably save everyone else from a cruel, heartless death. Or something.
Brandon - What musician or album do you think people should listen to as they read your work because it fits the soul of your words (either a specific title or your writing in general)?
MK: Ooh, nice question, Brandon. This is super tough because I write to music and there are a lot of answers that would work here. For grittier emotions, I listen to Nine Inch Nails. When I’m in the soaring, romantic phases of the stories, Armin Van Buuren (DJ Trance) is amazing.
Morticia – If you could be one of your characters and live their life, who would it be and why?
MK: Who’s the idiot who asked this question? Oh wait… Uh, let’s see. I’m leaning toward Aubrey King again, but I sort of had my own small scale version of that about twenty years ago, and I’m over it. I do love the nineteen-twenties so much, though, evidenced by the fact that I have twelve books set in that era! I’m not sure I’d want to go through the angst and heartbreak that Jack did in the Gin & Jazz series, but I’d love his happy ending and where he ends up (and with who) at the end of his story. *grin*
Tempeste – If you could be a fruit, any fruit, which would you be and why?
MK: I have many, many filthy answers to this question… I choose: kumquat. Let’s just leave it at that.
Jordan – What is the thing you enjoy most about gatherings like GRL?
MK: The socializing! I rarely leave the house (or put on pants) so going to conventions is my only chance to not only be human for a while, but to spend time with a group of people who totally get why I read and write what I do. I’m sooooo sick of explaining that to people (other than my wonderful daughters who need no explanation) in my so-called real life.
LE Franks – What is the most vivid romantic moment from any film that has lingered the longest and meant the most to you…. and why?
My mind went straight to the scene in Bram Stoker’s Dracula with Vlad and Mina sharing the absinthe and the vision Mina has of her past life. Awesome. I love emotional and sexual tension, the mystical connection between two souls.
Damn, now I wanna go watch it but I’m supposed to be answering these questions! Thanks LE!
K-Lee – If you could take any fictional couple or character (television, movies, real-life, books) and add them to one of your books, who would it be and why?
MK: Sherlock and Watson from the modern day Sherlock series. Do I really need to say why? Heh heh heh. Oh, all right. I like that they have such a strong connection, how they rely on each other in completely different ways, and that they’re ordinary guys, who are middle-aged and sexy as hell.
AE – What kind of quirky habits do you have before or during the time you write?
MK: I have to be listening to music. It’s turned into a Pavlovian response for me. If I’m struggling to get started, most of the time it’s because I don’t have the headphones on. The minute Armin’s beats kick in, it’s on baby!
Alexa – When you write, do your characters hijack the story, or do you keep a tight grip on the reins?
MK: Those bastards are in complete control. I’ll have entire scenes with dialogue worked out that I think is perfect and amazing, but when I start writing, they’re like, ‘fuck that’.
Enter to win!
Slave For Two (Soul Match 1) What is destined cannot be changed…
Chris has had a monumentally bad month. First, an aggressive band of aliens invaded the Earth, conquered the world, and now he’s fighting for survival in the mountains with his family and the neighborhood bigot. Just because he’s barely out of his teens and a bit on the scrawny side, doesn’t mean he can’t watch out for his Mom, sisters and younger cousin. Chris keeps searching for the brighter side of things, but his humor is wearing thin. Fear can do that to a guy.
Lasar and Nary are a soul matched pair of warriors from Alashar. Lasar is Nary’s Ahna, the one who dominates him and Nary is the Nasha, or submissive to Lasar. Every Alasharian, regardless of orientation, needs the balance of the power exchange to exist peacefully within their lifelong, soul match bond. When Lasar is awarded a war prize, he sends Nary to look over the recent arrivals.
Chris and his cousin Morgan are captured and sent to the slave cages where they discover from the other imprisoned young men that they are destined to be sex toys for alien pairs. When one of those aliens saves Chris and his cousin from being abused by the slave master, Chris hopes that the seemingly kind alien won’t be too horrible of a master.
Lasar and Nary are finally alone together with their new sex slave, ready to enjoy their reward. But in the middle of their playtime a shocking event occurs that not only disrupts Chris’ world even more than it already was, it challenges everything that Lasar and Nary have always held dear. As Lasar searches for answers, he begins to question the reasons behind the Earth invasion and where his loyalties should really lie. As their Ahna, he must be the one who decides whether they will all be safer together, or apart.

Author Morticia Knight spends most of her nights writing about men loving men forever after. Even though she’s been crafting her naughty tales of romance for more years than she’d like to share – her adventures as a published author began in 2011. Since then, she’s been fortunate enough to have several books on bestseller lists, along with two titles receiving recognition from the Rainbow Book Awards. Once upon a time, she was the lead singer and songwriter in an indie rock band that toured the West Coast and charted on U.S. college radio. Morticia currently resides on the beautiful northern Oregon coast, and when she’s not fantasizing about hot men, she takes walks along the ocean and occasionally annoys the local karaoke bar patrons.
